Enrichment Program Overview

Our program, Leadership Skills for Life Beyond School successfully launched in the 2024-2025 academic year at International School of Indiana (ISI). As ISI's first SEL (social-emotional learning) program for students and parents, our enrichment program teaches kids essential leadership skills like how to be resilient, curious, confident – all foundational traits.

This unique soft skills integration program is more than just play. It is an interactive way for parents to engage with their children to reach their potential. The activities and exercises provided by Life Beyond School are based on the latest research and established studies in early childhood development.

Sample 8-Week Session Topics

  • Motivation: I Can Be Anything… Even If I Don’t Think I Can Yet

This lesson fosters resilience, encourages problem-solving, and promotes a positive mindset in a fun, interactive way.

  • Optimism: Turning Negative Thinking Positive

Learning from mistakes in a dynamic and engaging activity helps children embrace errors as opportunities for discovery and improvement.

  • Confidence: But Not Arrogance!

This lesson helps children develop self-awareness, which is critical for building confidence, sustaining healthy relationships, expressing emotions, and increasing resilience.

  • Interpersonal Skills: Communication

Children practice communication skills that will help them effectively manage conflicts, collaborate with teammates, demonstrate empathy, actively listen, and adopt a positive outlook in any situation.

  • Skill of Critical Thinking: How to Think Like a Scientist

Children who can understand and support others are better equipped to build social connections, which are vital to one’s emotional well being. Children with empathy are more motivated to help others who may be suffering or in need.

  • Skill of Critical Thinking: How to Think Like a Scientist

Children learn to question the world around them rather than accepting things at face value. Encourage children to ask “why” and to develop critical thinking skills by observing nature and drawing conclusions based on what they see.
